Appointment form
The Appointment form enables you to add and edit container and cargo appointments for a gate if you configured the gate to use appointments.
For more information on configuring a gate to use appointments, see Appointment Stage form (on page 1). See where Appointments fit in the Gate Operations process (on page 1)
For more information on cargo appointments, see the Appointment section in the N4 Cargo manual.
When users associated with a specific business group log into N4, they can view the appointments only for the line operators and/or trucking companies associated with their business group. For more information on business groups, see Business Groups view.
Before you begin:
If you want N4 to update the appointment time for the associated container when you create or update a delivery transaction type appointment and not wait till you associated the transaction appointment with a truck visit appointment, you must set the ROADAPPOINTMENT002 (APPT_TIME_ON_TV_ATTACH) (on page 1) setting as false. In this case, N4 updates the following fields with the appointment time, which is the start time of the selected time slot:
In N4, the Appt Time field in the Units view and the Unit Inspector.
In XPS, the Appt Hour and Appntmnt fields.
N4 allows you to create an appointment for empty pickups against an EDO that is created at the Facility or at Complex scope level.
To add or edit an appointment:
From the Gate drop-down list, select the gate for which you want to add the appointment. You cannot edit the Gate for an existing appointment.
The drop-down list displays the gates that exist at the current scope level and that you have configured to use appointments. For more information, see Configuring a Gate (on page 1).
From the Transaction Type drop-down list, select the transaction type for which you want to add or edit the appointment.
The drop-down list displays the gate transaction types that you have configured to use appointments for the gate selected in step 1.
You must associate a gate transaction type with an appointment gate stage for N4 to list the gate transaction type in this drop-down list. For more information on adding gate transaction types to the appointment stage, see Appointment Stage form (on page 1) and Appt Tran Type form (on page 1).
Specify any optional information, such as the line operator, trucking company, truck license number, driver card ID, or reference number.
The fields displayed in the Unit Information area are configurable and depend on the requirements for your site. In the Unit Information area, enter or edit any details as required for the appointment.
For more information on configuring the Unit Information area, see Appt Tran Type form (on page 1).
In the Requested Date field, enter the date for the appointment.
N4 uses the date to define the values for the Appointment Openings drop-down list. If there are no available appointments for the requested date, N4 displays an error message. For more information on entering a date, see Entering dates.
From the Appointment Openings drop-down list, select the appointment opening you want to use for the appointment.
The drop-down list displays only the future appointment slots that fall within the appointment window for the Requested Date. In addition, it displays the number of openings by transaction type, including the number of cancelled appointments, for each time slot.
If the total number of appointments has been reached, you cannot make an appointment even if there are available openings by transaction type. For more information on configuring the appointment window, see Appointment Rule form (on page 1).
Click Save.
N4 displays the appointment number in the Appointment Created form. To close the form, click OK.
